Sorta Perfect

Other than the part where I almost passed out from the heat, Saturday was the kind of day I could essentially call “perfect”. We met up with Joey B, Bianca, Jay, Mike, Freddy and William for the Maryland/Georgia Tech game. Our group wasn’t seated together. John, Mike and I enjoyed the view from around the 25 yard line, about 12 rows up from the field. We were next to one of the student sections. I’d be able to tell you whether the students of 2007 are as crazy as those of the mid to late 80’s, but I never attended a football game during my years at Maryland. I know. What’s all that about?

Freddy and I were texting back and forth trying to figure out who had better seats, who had extra seats near them so we could move and sit together, and sizing up the alcohol situation (we still had 2/3 of our rum left). We met up at halftime and Freddy decided to sit with us for the second half, with pink lemonade and vodka in hand.

Although the day started out cloudy, by the second half of the game, the sun was beaming. I hadn’t prepared for the day to be so hot and sunny. Otherwise, I would have made a better footwear choice (flip flops instead of chucks). Around the beginning of the fourth quarter, I climbed back up into the shade of the concession area. There was a lady standing at the top in the same condition as me. Red-faced and looking like she was about to pass out.

We headed back to the car shortly before the game was over. Freddy bought me a strawberry shortcake from the ice cream truck, which perked me right up after I ate it. The whole passing out thing was probably because I was hungry. Once everyone got back to the car, we celebrated Maryland’s win with fried chicken, a shot of ‘buca and a cigarette. And no, I haven’t taken up smoking. It was a celebratory smoke, all in good fun.

John and I considered seeing a movie or going out to dinner, since the game was early and we got home at a decent time. As dinner time came around, I realized the heat of the day had gotten to me. We ordered some Ledo’s pizza and wings. If you like pre-cooked bacon on your pizza, the Ledo’s in Laurel does not skimp. Considering you pay the same amount for mushrooms as you would bacon, this is certainly a bargain!

Football with friends and pizza with the hubby. Perfect.

One last thing... when you sit by the student section, you also get the cheerleading squad.

Bill's doppelganger -- if he was bi-racial and 12 years younger. Too freaky.

Bi-Racial Bill the cheerleader?

Oh my God.

I have better hair, though.
