Auto Magic
It was a crazy busy weekend. I'm glad to be chillin' on the couch and catching up on the past week's dvr'd shows but maybe I ought to just go to bed 'cuz I'm beat!
Saturday morning, John and I took the subway downtown to catch the DC Auto Show. It's been a very long time since I went to the auto show, but John went a couple years ago with his bro and nephew. Here's Johnny checking out an old Corvette:

We also saw one of John's dream cars - a Bentley. Not necessarily this particular one, but I like the convertible:
It's amazing how certain car makers known for cheap, simple, boxy, affordable cars to interesting design and engineering. Despite the camo paint job on this Hyundai, it's kinda cool.
This one is pretty cool -- and solar powered!
After the car show, we hopped back on the train and went down to Eastern Market to check out Stitch DC, a yarn store. I've had two gift certificates for a while and finally got to cash them in. It was a gorgeous afternoon for being out and about.
Later that evening, I cooked up some pork tenderloin on the grill. I used a recipe from my "Best Recipe" cookbook and it turned out really awesome. Freddy and Mike came over and we ate pork sandwiches, grilled sausage, baked beans, cinnamon apples and super fudgy brownies. Afterwards, we watched the Budweiser Shootout and had the brilliant idea to do shots after each wreck in the race. On the second wreck, there was a little debate whether it was really a "wreck" or not. I decided since the yellow flag came out, we should drink. So, we drank everytime there was a caution. After 6 shots, we decided we'd only drink if 4 or more cars were involved in the wreck, or if a car rolled 3 times, or someone on the pit crew died during a pit stop. Wouldn't you know it... the next wreck involved 4 cars! It was a fun night watching the race. Maybe we will make it an annual event.
The other thing I wanted to do this weekend besides go to the auto show was catch a movie. So, this afternoon, we went to see "Coraline" at Arundel Mills, one of the few theaters showing this movie in 3D. The movie itself was a little weird but the 3D was awesome. I heard about this movie originally through one of the knit blogs I read, as the blogger converted Coraline's blue starry sweater into a people-sized knitting pattern. The costumes on the little models (the movie is stop-action animation) were all hand knit in miniature and the website for the movie shows the designer knitting on pins. Go check it out!
That's all for now, I suppose. I'm exhausted. Night-night.
