11 Years and the Power of Words
I could go outside and take a more suitable, season appropriate photo, but then I'd have to download it, crop it, etc... 11 years (and a few days) ago, I brought Jackass home from a now defunct Gaithersburg dealership. He was shiny and new. Now, not so shiny, but still running pretty well. Oh, Jackass... you've been good to me. I'm hoping I can get a few more years out of ya!

My friend, Bill, the U of D English Department dude, has often emphasized the power of words. This is evident on his blog, as he definitely has a unique talent and flair for words. I try to emulate that in my blog at times. Not so deftly, but occasionally I throw out a phrase or two worthy of being considered a Rock Band name (hi, Bill!)
Recently, my words were written out of a bit of hurt, a little tongue-in-cheek, very sarcastic and definitely TMI. I need to keep that in check. Although I don't put up a disclaimer like some folks do on their blogs, not all content you see here at Chez Beans is gonna be sunny or kid-friendly. I often blog about my feelings at the time, but some things don't need to be public.
There's that old internet thing about how you can't read emotion in an e-mail (something like that). Although there are ways to convey frustration or happiness in words, as a writer, you have to assume the audience may not always read your text the way you intended. Everyone has their own interpretation. If you mean something to be funny, you almost have to state it implicitly. Especially if that person doesn't know you.
I apologize to those who were hurt or offended by anything I've written, recently or in the past year.

JAL, SPEAK YOUR MIND . I THINK IT IS ALWAYS GOOD TO EXPRESS WHAT YOU FEEL. I LOVE ANY & EVERYTHING YOU WRITE ON BLOG. KEEP A OPEN MIND. LOVE MARIE
A BLOG is a cathartic animal Jal... we write because we feel. What we feel isn't always sunny or happy or strawberries and cream; sometimes what we feel is some deep, dark hole that really engulfs the happy people and shits them out the other end. If that be the case, then that is the case! Make no apologies for that. People who have wronged or hurt you deserve to know that they really offended you, and if you write about that on your BLOG, then don't ever apologize to them for that. If they take something out of context, then they should be adult enough to ask you about it and allow you to set them straight.
That's that for that. Oh, and it's the Delaware Tech English Department guy :-) I graduated from the University of Delaware in '97, but I work for DTCC now!
I agree. Don't change who you are or how you do things because one person (or even a few)took offense. If "they" don't know you well enough to tell what you are saying, then they shouldn't be so wrapped up in your blog that they take such offense. Know what I'm saying??!!
Love always...Neita
