Blah Day

I pretty much sat around all day yesterday, knitting on Calla, my latest project. I forgot to start the waist-shaping decreases after knitting 3.5 inches and had already knit about 7 inches. No way was I going to rip it out! I already had some issues with the first cable and spent 3 hours ripping back just the one section and reknitting the cable pattern. I should have taken pictures of the destruction!

I finally got off my tuckus and showered before we headed off to Robert & Pokey's for their annual 4th of July BBQ. Here's a pic of John waving at me (or is he raow-ing me???) with his best pal, Freddy:

Right as we fixed our plates of yummy food and returned to the front porch to eat, the sky decided to turn into Niagara Falls with a lot of booming thunder thrown in. We were all thinking of Robert, who was in the back yard trying to grill and keep his coals from getting drenched. I should have taken a pic of the rain. We could barely see across the street, it was coming down so hard! Of course, R&P cooked up some delish eats and we thank them for their hospitality!

Here's the pic of me and Neita that wouldn't load the other day:

Man, I'm one big mutta hubba standing there next to Neita, who maybe gained a little hip since 6th grade, but basically looks the same since HS. I gained some hip, a few layers to my chin, an ever-growing belly, thighs the size of sequoias...

OH! Speaking of belly! So I'm in the dining room at Robert & Pokes' yesterday, chatting with Mariana as she's opening up the strawberry cheesecake box and Grandma Hilda comes over and starts rubbing my belly. She's saying something to me but the only word I can make out is "baby". I said, "No, no baby... it's just fat." She laughed and went on her merry way.

Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July holiday!
