Mom's Day Brunch

John and I hosted a Mother’s Day brunch at our house yesterday and I served up a couple dishes I normally fix when we go to the Outer Banks. There was a fruit platter, a breakfast casserole, sausage gravy & biscuits, bacon (2 lbs!), French toast with strawberries and a hash brown casserole. We also had yummy Mimosas, Bloody Marys and coffee. Or coffee-scented beverage, I should say. My mom thought it was a little light. The second pot was much stronger, as it was made purposely for Mike, who believes you shouldn't be able to see through coffee.

I didn’t remember to take a picture of my lovely buffet before the hungry masses got to the food (aka “Carbfest”). I did manage a picture of the remains...

1 hunk of breakfast casserole, 1 triangle of French toast, 1 piece of bacon, 3 biscuits and a bit of sausage gravy. There was a good portion of the hash browns and fruit left. Oh! And the Amish market raspberry cheesecake my mom brought. That was quickly sliced up and placed into to-go containers for everyone. And I still have half of the cheesecake left (should have cut bigger slices to give out!).

It was a fun day. I’m glad we were able to celebrate with both our moms. We went out afterwards to check Expo for some new house numbers. Our local DIY stores didn’t have a full set of our house numbers in any of the styles we liked. We also checked out the DSW. Mother’s Day is a very popular day for buying shoes! I’ve never seen a line for the registers that long!

We got home in time to see the end of the NASCAR race and John grilled up some hot links. He also heated up my leftover rib eye steak from Saturday night’s dinner at Mi Rancho with William and Freddy. I could barely finish my steak. So tired! By 6:30 PM, I was in bed and asleep. Tragic.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and Mother’s Day!
