Nate Gets Medieval

It was one of those things I thought I'd probably do at some point, but it happened Saturday. We celebrated Nate's 45th birthday at Medieval Times.

And, NO, we didn't lose some kind of bet! It was a man's promise to his little girl that led to our celebrating Nate's birthday by wearing paper crowns and eating food without utensils. To be honest, it was kind of like going to a sporting event. You're eating, screaming for your knight/team to win, and actually, it wasn't horrible!

It was difficult to understand what the different characters were saying. Not because I couldn't understand their medieval knightly accents, but the sound system could have been a little better.

We were sitting in the blue section. These guys, in the yellow section, came prepared to have the best time in the world:

If they gave an award to a group who was the most into this place, this would be them. I'm not sure if they were for real or just a little drunk. I'm sure there are people who go to MT often (read: more than once in a lifetime). Were these those folks? We also saw a few people who came dressed in Ren Fair garb.

Gabrielle claimed it was the best time she ever had. We had just been seated at our table and the show hadn't even started! Through the eyes of a soon to be 6-yr old, experiencing a live storybook Princess, King, knights and horses would be the most awesome thing ever, wouldn't it? It's nice she had the time of her life!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NATE!

All Day in My Jammies

Because I worked Sunday over this past long holiday weekend, I decided to take my comp day today... and I'm glad I did! I watched Johnny gingerly walk down the driveway with the trash can this morning. Hope everyone got to work safely!

But in more important news... today is Julianna's 13th birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JULES!

May all your birthday wishes come true!

Also wishing my bestest childhood friend, Kecia, a wonderful birthday as well!

Working on a Holiday Weekend

Here I am at work, waiting for some updates to the system we're testing. I wish this day were more productive than it is, but when you're relying on others to do programming fixes and such, you have to play the waiting game.

It looks like we'll be back here tomorrow too. Sucks as this is the last long weekend until Memorial Day. The only nice thing about coming to work on a Sunday morning is there was very little traffic.

Anyway, how did everyone fare with the "ice storm" last week? It took me almost 3 hours to get home from work. In the first hour of my trip, I had only made it 8 miles from the office. And I had to go to the bathroom soooo bad. Once traffic started moving again (it had been closed due to an accident 5 miles ahead of where we were stopped), I didn't want to get off the road to locate a bathroom. I just wanted to get home... two hours later. This terrible drive home made me consider keeping adult diapers in the car. Can they hold a full bladder's worth?

Not much else going on. Oh! We did have Valentine's Day last week, huh? John gave me some orange tulips and a card. I just got him a card. We had dinner at Hard Times Cafe. Not very fancy or romatic, is it? It was very nice. I prefer that to having to deal with long waits for a table. Don't get me wrong... I do enjoy a fancy meal! I also can't be bothered sometimes to deal with the public.

For those of you who are off tomorrow, enjoy the day! And for those of you who have to work, enjoy the light traffic.

Not Extraordinary

It would have been cool to see a team go undefeated, but Sunday, the Giants proved to the world that the Pats are just... ordinary.

Congrats to Mikey, who is probably still on Cloud 9 over his team's win! And CONGRATS to the Cuello Rojos for their win. How 'bout buyin' the rest of us a donut and a latte?
