Breton Bay 2009

As spring turns into summer, we field the "When's your party?" question by many of our friends. This year's party came a little later than normal, but despite being August, the weather was beautiful and (hopefully) a good time was had by all.

We welcomed a few newcomers to the bay but were sad so many were unable to make the party. Maybe next year?

House Decor, Part II

The second part of this summer's house projects was the kitchen floor. The vinyl sheet flooring had served its purpose but I wanted something a little snazzier, something worthy of the beautiful countertops we put in three years ago. (Three years... is that right? Time sure flies!!!)

Here's a shot of the old floor:



The guy who installed our new floor had to brush on some stuff to take the gloss (or what was left of it) off the old surface and then brushed on glue to adhere the new tiles:





We selected Congoleum's DuraStone in the color "Stoney Griege" from the folks who did our carpeting and stairs last summer. I'm glad we were able to support a local small business.

Homebodies

Not much going on... lots of weekends spent at home or out and about by ourselves. Today, I finally got around to hemming up some curtains we bought online. They don't exactly bringing to mind the term "chic", but I wasn't willing to spend hundreds of dollars. The look we have going is "little boy's bedroom".

Maybe some day I'll splurge for the matching bedding and curtains in more luxurious fabrics. For now, this $60 change in decor will have to do.

In other news, has anyone seen this dude on the left???

Our big group, hanging out every weekend at a bar to watch sports or someone's deck for a bbq, is now gathering maybe once every other month, if that.
