Happy "Leather Strap" Anniversary!

Today is our 3rd anniversary! And you guys didn't think it would last 3 months, much less 3 YEARS!

Happy Birthday, Freddy!

In "Freddy's Birthday Tradition", we headed up to Camden Yards last night to celebrate by watching the O's beat the Pirates in a fun game (except for the excrutiatingly long 7th inning).

After the game, we headed back to Pickles Pub for a few more beers. As usual, there were lots of laughs:

Hot, Hot, Hot

Whew! When is this heat going to break?

It's been a full weekend. I'm wondering where the time went! Friday, of course we had dinner at my parents'. And "Dinner B" at the Corner Pub. William, Freddy, Nate, Mo and Nikaya joined us. We met a cute couple sitting at the table next to ours. They live within walking distance from CP and were good sports in joining us for a blueberry bomb (red bull and blueberry vodka) and an Irish car bomb.

Saturday seems like a blur to me. John took my truck to get an oil change in the morning. We ran to a few stores looking for a small laptop mouse and USB keyboard. Later in the afternoon, we went to see "Iron Man". So cool. I'm a goof for techy gadgetry and heroes and special effects.

How 'bout that rain storm that pushed through Saturday night? It started hailing right when we were about 5 minutes from home. I was hoping the lumps of hail were teeny and not golf-ball sized. It would be really tragic to have huge dents in John's new car after owning it less than a week!!!

Sunday, we headed up to Burtonsville hoping to find a buyer for the Corvette. We got there a little late, so folks were heading home very shortly after our arrival. There must have been a few car clubs there -- Corvette and Mustang. There were a number of Ford GT's, Lotuses and of course, old classics. Later that evening, we celebrated Lena's birthday at Mi Rancho. (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LENA!) It's been quite a while since we were there. They stuck us in a really hot basement room. But the food and company were fun, so no complaints really.

John and I are still trying to figure out when to have our annual Chumado/Anniversary/4th of July party. It's looking like September at this point. Mainly, we want our families to be able to attend. Between kids going off to summer camp, elevator guys being on call and unbearable summer weather, September is looking better and better.

Farewell, Ninny

First off, I post today from my new laptop! We got it Sunday, but today's the first chance I've had to use it.

BTW: I'm watching an episode of "Family Guy" from 1999. The drawings and voices are so different than current day episodes! I haven't been watching this show very long, so my exposure has mostly been with the past two seasons.

Where was I? Oh! My new LT. Is there a slang word for a laptop? Like, new shoes are "kicks". New tires on a car are "shoes". And a new car is a new "ride".

(The keyboard on this laptop is driving me crazy! I keep pressing things that take me out of this page and I need to attach a mouse! It's just a matter of getting used to the keys and making sure I keep my fingers properly poised over the keys, like they taught me in 3rd grade typing class...)

Speaking of new rides... I wish there were some way I could properly pay tribue to S.B. Ninny, Johnny's 2005 Mustang GT. Tonight is our last night with him, as John has purchased a new ride; he's trading Ninny in for a Cadillac CTS.

I remember the day we bought Ninny so clearly. We went to a dealership in Columbia to look at a Mustang John saw on the dealership's website. They were apparently slackers when it came to updating their website. No car.

Another errand on our list that day was to go to an Asian market up Route 29 near Ellicott City. After visiting the market, I was driving on Route 40, looking for a place to turn around and head back to 29. We passed a Ford dealership and decided to stop in. They had the exact model and color Mustang John wanted (with a few more options than he really needed). We took it out for a quick spin, even though John would have purchased it without the test drive.


Ninny has been such a fun car to drive. I will miss him dearly. Stay tuned for more on the new addition to our household!
