All Beltways are the Same

My first official day at HQ today. I like being in a more "professional" office setting, although there are some goofy rules -- like not being allowed to make microwave popcorn in the building. The drive is 8 fewer miles than my old office but is starting out to be longer in time.

One of the things I liked about my old office, despite being a 50 mile drive one way, is that I didn't "sit" in traffic. I was going against it, a straight shot up I-95. I was so happy not to be stuck on the DC beltway every day, like many of my friends (and the hubby) are. I guess all good things come to an end. I will now be stuck on the Baltimore beltway 5 days a week. Granted, it was rainy today, but my drive home took about an hour and 40 minutes. 42 miles. If it had been a 2 hour drive today, I may have just gone straight to the bar instead of coming home.

While schlepping along at 10 mph, I wondered if there were some way to make better use of the time I would be stuck in the car, as I know this won't be the last time I'm held hostage by the 695. Maybe I could crochet -- something simple. I could get a mini digital recorder and dicate the next great novel. Any ideas?

Like a Lion

How 'bout this once-a-month blogging??? I will try not to let that happen.

Today started out pretty good. I'm very lucky Ruby has the luxury of spending evenings in a garage. And lucky for me, I didn't have to brush off the snow off a cold truck this morning. Sadly, PG County didn't think about us poor slugs who have to get to work. I crawled at 25 mph for a good 50 minutes up I-95 (only about 18 miles?). The good thing was my trip home was a breeze. The roads were clear of snow/ice and no traffic!

Currently watching "Top Gear" on BBC America. Such a fun show. Three English blokes talking about cars and doing various challenges. If you're a fan of British shows and cars, check this one out!
