Ruby Returns

YAY! Ruby has returned... it was a faulty fuel pump. I hope to get another 100,000 miles out of her with little incident.

This weekend, we're headed down to the Breton Bay community work day. Actually, John and my BIL will be doing the community repairs... I'll be at the yarn store taking a knitting class and then possibly at the Wings 'n Beer joint (free wi-fi) afterwards to help with some system testing for work.

Speaking of work, I've been at the new office for about a month and I'm getting used to the drive. Some days are simply brutal, but I'm glad to have a job. And so far, the little perks aren't so bad either. Wednesday was "Employee Appreciation Day" and they brought in Coldstone Creamery to make everyone ice cream in waffle bowls. YUM! And today, although not really something company sponsored, a cell phone company was giving away chip clips. I know it's trivial, but we certainly didn't get these things at my old office! It's good to be working at HQ.

Monday is Johnny's birthday, so make sure you call him up throughout the day and sing to him. Till then, pull out the flip flops and enjoy the warm weather! I'm sure it will go back to 50 degrees next week.

Conked Out

It was rush hour on 695 and rainy. Not a good situation but made worse by an engine going caput. Poor Ruby conked out on me yesterday on my way home from work. It's very disconcerting to see your vehicle being towed! At least this time, the backside wasn't crunched from being rear ended by a semi!

"X" Gets a Name

Although a lot of people don’t care for the show “House”, John and I really love it. John’s been a longtime fan of Hugh Laurie, dating back to Hugh’s days on “Blackadder”. John does love the old British comedies!

When I was thinking of names for my new ride, of course there were variations of “Jack” -- Jackass II, Jackal, Jackalope (part jackrabbit, part antelope). Variations of “red” names were thrown about too.

I thought of naming it “House”. But the house is “House”. So I started calling it “Hugh Laurie”. John didn’t think that was very funny.

Presenting... Ruby!

We were both home on Tuesday, John with a bad head cold and me with... a stomach ailment. Yea, I know. It was in the mid 70’s that day. A great day to be home “sick” instead of at work. But really! We were sick!

We went out to get medicine for John and I drove. I don’t remember what we were talking about, but he said, “How about Ruby?” Then he started singing some old song about “Ruby”. I didn’t know the song, but as I was thinking about it, “Ruby” sounds good. Not funny like “Hugh Laurie”, but fitting.

Speaking of funny, that same day we were out to get John some head cold relief, I was at a red light and looking in the rear view mirror at this old man in a huge Impala-type car. He was eating ice cream or a Frosty and I was worried he was too involved with his treat to step on his brakes. He did come to a stop, and for some reason, I kept watching him eat his ice cream. After a few more bites, he shook his head violently and held his hand up to his forehead. BRAIN FREEZE!

I busted out laughing so hard. John looked at me like I was crazy. You had to have seen this guy. He looked like Abe Vigoda. With ice cream brain freeze. Too funny. It still makes me laugh!
